Domain Names Provide Back Door Branding Opportunities To Businesses As
in traditional travel with multiple road ways to one destination there are
many ways to reach business marketing goals on the Internet. Back door
branding is one good way claims one Internet marketing expert.
Back door branding is a powerful and effective yet little known and used
Internet marketing strategy according to Scott Alliy President of
DomainsAvailableNow.com.
Scott likens having multiple domain names to having multiple doors on a
concert hall or entry gates on an arena.
Businesses that think out of the box says Scott have a fantastic opportunity
to increase market share by using the power of back door branding.
Back door branding is the act of attracting an audience to your business
website via one or more related websites whose name is easily recognized by
people with an interest in your product or service.
For example says Scott "If you owned a coffe shop in Houston you might also
want to own the domain names HoustonCoffeeShops.com HoustonDonutShops.com
and HoustonKolacheShops.com". The logical connection is that all of the
three domain names mentioned relate to your product or service.
Poeple looking for breakfast foods or tasked with supplying their office
group meeting may not know your company name but if they go to the Internet
looking for information about local establishments they will find you.
That is says Scott assuming that you understand the power of back door
branding and had the foresight to act by creating the other three websites
in addition to your own and then listing your site on the top of each of the
three complimentary and market specific directory websites mentioned.
According to Scott many domain names available that are excellent candidates
for back door branding including some on DomainsAvaiableNow.com like
HoustonGolfDirectory.com DallasGolfDirectory.com ScottsDaleGolfDirectory.com
and VegasGolfDirectory.com. Other domain names listed on
DomainsAvailableNow.com such as
WeFinanceHomes.com and AutoLoanByWeb.com offer huge profit potential and
present tremendous business implications when used for back door branding.
Scott reminds interested business owners that like any new business
marketing strategy usually the first one in wins and warns business owners
and managers that the window of opportunity for back door branding will
close fast.

Driven Websites Rise In Popularity Presents Opportunity For Domain Name
Resellers Owners of such names as urDiscovered.com can choose to sell
or lease their names or partner with other interested companies
Scott Alliy President of Allied Internet Solutions and owner of such
domain names as urDiscovered.com and YourAreDiscovered.com sees a bright
future for websites that feature user content.
The new inclusive marketing strategy cuts production and development costs
by allowing user created content to fill the pages of the website.
According to Scott Alliy creator of such popular websites as
FindaSeminar.com and DomainsAvailableNow.com the intangibles to owners of
websites fed by user content are lower cost higher search rankings and
higher traffic and advertising revenues.
One of the ever present thorns for most website owners is growing the number
of visitors and visitor retention. The constant flow of new videos and
audios that get submitted grab the search robots attention and elevate the
site popularity in the search rankings. At the same time word of mouth WOM
advertising helps to greatly increase the number of visitors to the website
making the site attractive to both search engines and advertisers looking to
reach the masses.
Scotts latest concept site urDiscovered.com aims to provide a forum where
aspiring actors musicians athletes and people and animals with their own
special talents to present themselves.
Scott has listed urDiscovered.com on DomainsAvailableNow.com a domain name
search engine and is hoping to sell or lease the domain name to a record
label or talent agency and or partner with one or more companies interested
in capitalizing on the allur of the catchy dotcom domain name

Attracting Customers Through Direct Search
By Anthony Mitchell
CRM Buyer
Part of the ECT News Network
In paid or organic search engine results, each paid or unpaid listing competes against all the other listings on a page. With a direct search, you have the customer all to yourself. Visitors arriving through direct navigation are more likely to drill down through a Web site to search out information or purchasing options that initially motivated them to arrive at the site.
Direct search, or direct navigation, occurs when a potential customer guesses a domain name and types it into his or her browser address bar. The domain name often corresponds to the type of product or service being sought.
Direct search is responsible for less than 20 percent of the online connections between potential customers and businesses. However, direct search is correlated with stronger customer purchasing behavior than traditional search engine referrals by at least a factor of two.
Potential customers may not know whether such a domain name exists. However, if it does, shoppers are more likely to make a purchase or establish positive connections to the site's brand than if they had found the site through organic (unpaid) or paid search engine advertising Email Marketing Software - Free Demo results. As described earlier here in regard to Aristotle's theories of rhetoric, a customer who believes they are in control of a commercial interaction is more likely to initiate a purchase than a customer who experiences a lack of control.
Getting Down to Business
In paid or organic search engine results, each paid or unpaid listing competes against all the other listings on a page. With a direct search, you have the customer all to yourself. Visitors arriving through direct navigation are more likely to drill down through a Web site to search out information or purchasing options that initially motivated them to arrive at the site.
You can reward customers who are smart enough to go directly to your Web site with helpful, topical information. Introduce your main portal's Web address, so customers can find their way back to you again.
Direct search can be exponentially cheaper than paying for search engine advertising. A domain name used for direct navigation that receives eight hits per month can break even for the year in just one month, compared to paid search advertising that costs $1 per click-through. Compared to the cost of paid search engine ads at $4 per click-through, which is not uncommon, a domain name used for direct navigation that receives eight hits per month can pay for itself in just one week.
Direct search and search engine optimization (SEO) are not entirely separate. They complement each other and should be used together (along with paid advertising) to build a well-rounded marketing program. The difference is that spending money on direct searching can be considered as an investment, versus the expenses incurred with other marketing methods.
Finding the Way In
A business needs to imagine itself as a building sitting in the middle of a chaotic urban environment. Instead of forcing all customers to navigate through crowded, noisy neighborhoods until they find the main entrance to the storefront, a business needs to open a variety of doors that customers can use to find their way inside. Direct search opens those doors.
Rather than simply acquiring domain names to direct Internet searchers to a company's main Web page, dedicated landing sites can be put together to correspond to the idea expressed in a domain name used for direct search. Then customers can be steered towards the relevant pages of a company's Web site.
Landing pages used for direct search can contribute to a company's search engine rankings and broaden the number of search engine keywords used to attract customers. Landing pages for direct search traffic can also be optimized for search engines.
Consider hosting Reliable hosting solutions with 24x7x365 support – Visit HostMySite.com a chat feature on your landing pages to allow potential customers to immediately begin discussions with you. Meebo is a free Web-based chat service that InternationalStaff.net is currently testing on its Web sites. Meebo allows you to select different chat identities for individual landing pages.
The Right Recipe
Eight ingredients for successful direct search campaigns are:
1. Emphasize relevance
2. Prioritize dot-coms
3. Use country-code extensions for national markets
4. Combine locations and service offerings
5. Attract traffic directly with non-hyphenated domains
6. Support SEO with hyphens
7. Ignore keyword popularity
8. Budget and prioritize
The ingredients of direct search are presented below.
1. Emphasize Relevance
Domains should represent the types of services that your firm provides now or is considering providing in the future. Stay away from typo squatting on misspellings of competitors' trademarks. Instead, experiment with misspellings of your own service's offerings and brands.
Generic domains should consist of commonly-understood words that potential clients are likely to enter into their browser address bars when seeking a specific type of service. Forward thinking about where your market is heading can help you anticipate new terms for your services.
Add futuristic terms to your acquisition wish list. If it turns out that some domains are not attracting the right kind of traffic or any traffic at all, they can be sold off or allowed to expire.
Whereas it is unethical to use a competitor's brands and trademarks in direct search, this is not the case for paid search advertising. Try some searches of the leading firms in your industry and see whether a competitor's ads appear alongside the organic results.
Ad costs are lower for company names and trademarks than for corresponding generic keywords because there is less competition. Is anyone using your company's name as a keyword for paid search?
2. Prioritize Dot-Coms
Priority should be given for acquiring dot-com domains. In the United States, dot-com domains generally receive at least 10 times the amount of direct search traffic as equivalent dot-net names. If resources are limited, dot-net names can receive secondary priority, except for names with strong branding potential.
Dot-org names may be appropriate in limited circumstances. You can also go after domains with country code extensions in international markets that you serve, with non-English words for non-English-speaking markets.
3. Use Country-Code Extensions For National Markets
Country code domains can, and should, be acquired for your company's primary brands in every country where you may conduct business. Localized, linguistically and geographically targeted Web sites can then be constructed to appeal to local audiences.
Examples of country codes are .cn for China, .ca for Canada and .de for Germany. In the United States, businesses have been slow to use the .us extension, preferring to focus on the .com extension instead.
The Dubai-based international airline of the United Arab Emirates, Emirates Airlines, provides an example of a company that effectively uses country code domain names to attract business from the markets it serves across the globe.
Emirates has registered numerous individual country code domain names such as Emirates.ae that draw in local customers from each of the countries it serves (in this case from the UAE) to be subsequently processed on the airline's main Web site, Emirates.com.
4. Combine Locations and Service Offerings
Domains for direct navigation can include geographical terms that your clients or the clients of your competitors may be seeking, combined with the name of a product or service. Are your clients seeking (and can you provide) inbound call center services or outbound telemarketing in China? Then names such as ChinaInbound.com and ChinaTelemarketing.com can attract customers.
Looking to build on the emerging brand momentum for Indian call centers and business process outsourcing Latest News about Outsourcing (BPO) facilities located in Bengaluru, the city formerly known as Bangalore? If so, then variations on BengaluruCallCenter.com, BengaluruBPO.com and BengaluruOutsourcing.com will start to draw high-quality traffic when the city's recent name change begins to take hold.
Major investors in domain portfolios have placed significant emphasis not only on location-service combinations for the business-to-consumer market, but also on zip codes. Seattle-based Marchex, for example, has numerous zip code domains that it has turned into automated mini-portals, supported by a mix of consumer-generated content, agency-supplied ads and paid ads from Yahoo (Nasdaq: YHOO) Latest News about Yahoo.
On the landing page for the Marchex domain 90210.com, Yahoo ads appear on the right with imported content below. Building on the popularity of America's best known zip code, 90210.com connects consumers to businesses throughout the Los Angeles area, with an emphasis on tourists and business travelers.
5. Attract Traffic Directly With Non-Hyphenated Domains
Domains consisting of two or more words connected by a hyphen receive 5 to 25 percent of the direct search traffic of the same number of words appearing together without a hyphen. In Africa and Asia, traffic rates are at the higher end of that range, whereas in the United States, traffic is usually at around 10 percent.
Depending on where a direct search campaign is seeking to draw an audience and the funds available to it, an initial concentration on domains without hyphens may be in order. Where resources are limited and the value of each hit received is low, traffic rates from domains without dashes can be assessed before a decision is made on whether to register variants with dashes.
Where relevant domains without hyphens are not available, you may have no choice except to invest in hyphenated ones. Even with minimal direct navigation traffic, however, hyphenated domains can still serve a purpose because they can receive favorable treatment by search engines.
6. Support SEO With Hyphens
If you are seeking to build up subsidiary Web sites for SEO purposes, then hyphens in multi-word domains can be a good investment because search engines often rate Web pages higher if domains consist of keywords separated by hyphens. The domain Aids-Prevention.com, for example, would receive higher search engine rankings than the same domain without the hyphen, even if page contents were identical.
A well funded program for SEO and direct search may seek to acquire both hyphenated and non-hyphenated variations of domain names.
7. Ignore Keyword Popularity
Keywords are terms that people enter into search engine queries. Web site meta tags and page content can be optimized to include keywords selected to attract site visitors arriving through organic search engine results.
How can you find out which keywords are most in demand by both advertisers and search engine users? The major search engines provide free keyword tools that help advertisers and Web site publishers figure out what keywords people are using and the relative popularity of different keyword combinations. To find keyword tools, enter "keyword tool" into a search engine.
Prices for advertisements that appear in search engine results are determined according to keyword popularity. Advertising customers bid against each other to purchase desired keywords.
It is not necessary for domain names used for direct search to have a positive correlation with the popularity of keywords used in search engine queries. In fact, there is often a weak or even inverse relationship between direct search traffic and keyword popularity statistics from search engine queries.
Little published data exists in regard to statistical correlations between keyword popularity and direct search traffic. It is clear, however, that popular keywords can make lousy brands and generate only marginal direct search traffic.
For example, the keyword string "Southeast Asian Restaurant" was responsible for 46,932 search queries on Yahoo during November, dwarfing the 9,034 search queries on Yahoo for "Asian Food" during the same period. On the direct search side, however, SoutheastAsianRestaurant.com has been found to generate less than 10 hits per month (prior to the publication of this article) since December and would not be considered a strong brand name for a business because it is too long and too bland.
8. Budget and Prioritize
Initial attempts at building up direct search capabilities can be accompanied by irrational exuberance. Starting small is often the best strategy Barracuda Spam Firewall Free Eval Unit - Click Here, except for those with the confidence and decisiveness to purchase a high-profile domain name on the secondary market. Domains purchased on the secondary market can become a company's primary identity.
Establish budgets and use monitoring tools for cost control. Server logs can provide incoming traffic data on a domain-specific basis and produce first-level monitoring results. Tracking cookies can follow visitors around a site and attribute purchasing activity back to originating domain names.
There are two phases in portfolio construction for direct search. The first phase is to decide on your priorities and determine what domain names might best suit your needs. The second phase consists of efforts to acquire domains that meet your criteria.
Four methods for identifying and prioritizing opportunities for direct search:
1. Ask your customers what they think about before deciding to seek out your company or purchase its goods.
2. Brainstorm to come up with a list of keywords and domain ideas.
3. Consult an advertising agency or international brand consultant with experience in direct search.
4. Visit Web sites with domain name generator tools such as NameBoy.com, which provides synonyms and a list of available versus already registered names.
There are several options for building up a portfolio of domains for direct search.
First, take your high-priority shopping list and register domains that are not already registered. Avoid registrars designed for retail consumers. Both the top two registrars (eNom and GoDaddy) have bulk registrar services for businesses that maintain large portfolios of domain names. Many businesses maintain accounts on both registrars to minimize the transfer times for inbound names acquired from third parties.
Domain names on your priority list that are already registered may be for sale on the secondary market, regardless of whether they are currently pointed towards fully operational commercial sites. Engage in direct search to verify the use and current status of these names.
Look up the registration status of domain names on free sites such as BetterWhois.com. Pay attention to registration information and look for clues that a domain may be available for purchase.
Check on secondary marketplaces such as Afternic and Sedo to see whether any of your priority names are being offered for sale through those sites. Those secondary marketplaces can give you additional ideas on similar domains that may be available.
Also available are services that snap up expired domain names as soon as they are released for registration by new owners. Those services offer dropped domain names for sale on an auction basis. They are popular among owners of large existing portfolios. Existing portfolio owners can use their industry experience to conduct sophisticated economic analysis and decide on bid prices before dropped domains become available through auctions.
It is often cheaper to acquire a popular domain directly (but anonymously) before it expires, rather than wait and compete with other customers on an auction site.
Troubled competitors can be approached with offers to buy their domain names. In some cases, this could include their branded Web sites. The cheapest method for approaching competitors is through secondary marketplaces that can forward your offer anonymously. Otherwise you can expect inflated prices from sellers.
Last but not least, direct search campaigns can be outsourced to an online ad agency or an international brand consultant. Because of the structure of online ad agencies' billing rates, be careful of agencies that may steer you in the direction of an excessive reliance on paid search and other recurrent expenditures. Some agencies are now segmenting their billing for creative work separately from other billing categories.
As for finding an international brand consultant, most have been slow to recognize and explore the value of direct search or the power of the Internet in general. If not, InternationalBrandConsultant.com would have been registered before October 16, 2006.

Congratulations, you now know the top 150

is insert some of these keywords into your website and you will start to make
lots of money, right? Wrong, wrong, wrong. I hate to tell you this, but I
must: the 150 keywords above will be worthless to 90% of Adsense users. Why do

It's time to "Google" yourself. Go to google.com
right now and type in your name. Click "Enter" on your keyboard or "Google
Search" on your screen. The result that is displayed is your online identity
or profile. You can search using my name for a comparison...tom domin.
If you don't believe some of your mortgage
prospects are checking you out using Google...think again! Thanks to Google,
it's become ridiculously easy for prospects and customers to find out more
about you as a mortgage professional, just by typing your name into the Google
search engine.
Here's the thing...they're looking for search
results of you on the internet, to see what third party references will reveal
about your mortgage business. Essentially, they are "checking you out." They
are looking to evaluate your "online identity or profile" which is a
collection of all of the information about you on the Internet, and whether
that information is mostly positive, or negative.
Here's a quick review of what a prospect
might find when they "Google" you, and what impact that information might have
on their decision to do business with you.
1. Positive identity/profile - Your prospect
finds numerous mentions of you online including the website you set up using
your name.com as your mortgage site. They find articles you may have written
about mortgage and credit issues. They may also find your name associated with
the city they live in, local newspapers, as well as any professional
associations you may be connected with.
Congratulations, your prospect found you.
This goes a long way in establishing credibility and trust in their eyes. I'm
sure they won't hesitate contacting you and discussing their mortgage
requirements with you.
2. Negative identity/profile - Your prospect
found negative comments or testimonials about you from previous customers, or
your name was found associated with a negative website or negative group or
association.
This one is trouble...your prospect can form
a pre-conceived opinion of you and may then pass you by and contact another
mortgage professional.
3. Neutral identity/profile - Your prospect
can't find any information about you.
Neutral is not good - Despite your attempt to
make your mortgage business look successful, your prospects may decide that
since they couldn't find any record of you...you are a very small cog in the
big mortgage wheel...and may decide to go elsewhere. Warning...In the months
and years ahead, your desire to remain anonymous on the internet will cost you
and your mortgage business big bucks.
The chances are good you need to establish
and/or improve your online identity/profile. The best way to do this is to
focus your efforts and some time on actually building that positive online
identity/profile. Here are a few ways to do that...
1. Reserve a domain name for your personal
mortgage website and use your personal name. The search engines will find you
in short order. When someone does Google your name, your website will come up
first in the findings.
2. Write a few good mortgage and credit
articles for homebuyers and homeowners and submit them to article directories,
local newspapers, and community websites. Use a reference box at the end of
your article which identifies both you and your mortgage website. Google will
find your articles and they will eventually be listed when someone does Google
your name.
3. Sponsor or help with a community event.
Ask the organization you are supporting if they post information about the
event online, including the names of the sponsors. A Google search that
associates you with a major local charity would be viewed very positively by
your mortgage prospects.
4. Start a "blog" (short for web logs). This
one requires some research and a little learning curve on your part...that's
why we left it for last. However, once set-up, your investment of time each
week is really minimal. Search engines like Google love blogs, readily index
them, and then show the results, when someone Googles your name.
OK, there you have it. Remember, it will
become increasingly important for you to manage and control your online
identity/profile. By increasing the positive search results of your name
online, you'll give added confidence to your Google savvy prospects and
customers and increase your mortgage business as a result. Your mortgage
prospects and customers are definitely working smarter...so should you!

Secrets of Having a Good
Domain Name
All right, so you are creating your own website
and you need to pick a domain name. How to you pick a good domain name? Does
it even matter what your domain name is? Will you choose a .com, .net, .org,
.biz? Which one best suits you and your business?
How do other businesses choose a good domain
name? Why do some domain names become so easily memorable while others just
seem to not be there at all? What makes a domain name memorable?
Why Does A Good Domain Name Matter?
It is vital to your website and business to
have a good domain name. Having a good domain name is just as important as
your business name, logo, and possibly even more important. First you have the
choice of the actual domain name, such as Yahoo, Google, or eBay, for example.
Although these domain names do not seem to match the websites or businesses in
any way, they work because of brand name. If you tell people to go look
something up on Google they know to type in http://www.google.com or to simply
type Google into their favorite search engine. People know Google is a great
search engine. It has become a household name because of their choice of the
domain name, and successful advertising and promotional campaigns.
Your domain name needs to match your business
well. You can choose a simple name that immediately lets people know what the
website will be about before they even get there, such as Wikipedia. Since it
sounds like encyclopaedia, people assume it is just that before they even get
to the website, and it is.
You also have the choice of creating or
making up your own name. It could be anything, and does not have to be a real
word. However, as a general online business rule, your domain name should be
the same as your business name.
Sometimes it is best to search available
domain names on a web hosting website so you can see what is out there that is
up for the taking. Think about whether you want your website domain name to
end with a .com, .net, and the other many available endings.
Secrets Of A Catchy Domain Name –
Your domain name has to be catchy. People
need to be able to remember it, pronounce it and write it with ease. The
shorter your domain name, the better. People will have a difficult time
remembering longer domain names. Yahoo is easy to remember. It has only five
letters in it. It is like yelling Yahoo!. That’s why people remember it so
easily.
Catchy domain names are straight forward, to
the point and short. Some are humorous. Some remind people of something else.
Some are controversial. Some are just plain silly and make people laugh, but
they remember it.
The more catchy your domain name is the more
likely it is that you will have more website visitors. Think carefully about
what you want for your domain name before you choose it.
It's goodbye from me
That's it folks

How To Choose A Domain Name by
Daniel Moro Choosing a good domain name is one of
most important steps in setting up your online business. And with more web sites
being launched every day, it is certainly not getting any easier to find good
domain names that are still available. So what exactly makes a good domain name?
Easy to Remember - Your domain
name should be memorable and easy for visitors to recall and type into their
browser.
Relevant - Your domain name
should be relevant to your business and to the content on your web site.
Short Name - Although domain
names can be up to 67 characters, your domain name should be shorter, preferably
seven characters or less. Shorter domain names are easier to remember, easier to
type and less susceptible to mistakes. Domain names with seven characters or
less are harder to come by these days, so you may have to settle for a domain
name that is slightly longer.
Top Level Domain If your business
is in the US or if your web site is targeting a global audience then you should
use .com as your top-level domain. Generally .net and .org domains are not
perceived as being as professional as .com domains. If however you are marketing
to a local audience in another country, for example in UK or
Australia, then using the local .com
domain such as .com.uk or .com.au may make it easier for visitors to recognize
that your site is local.
Keyword Optimized - If possible
your domain name should contain popular keywords relating to your topic. This
will help your site to rank high in the natural rankings of search engines. Use
a keyword tool such as Good Keywords to check which keywords are searched more
frequently.
Consider Hyphenated Names - If
you are having trouble getting the name you want, consider a hyphenated domain
name, e.g. barbecue-grills.com. However the downside of this approach is that
some people will forget the hyphen when typing your domain name.
How Does it Sound? - If you tell
a friend your domain name over the phone, will they easily be able to spell it
correctly the first time?
No Trademark Conflicts - Make
certain that your domain name is free of legal conflicts due to trademarks
belonging to other businesses. Your new site at GoogleSecrets.com might attract
a lot of traffic but it will probably attract even more after your court case is
in the headlines for breaching Google's
trademark! Stay clear of other
companies' names and trademarks.
A good place to check if a domain name is available is
Whois.org. Keep these tips in mind, and you will be well on your way to choosing
a good domain name.

Website Basics-Fine
Tuning a Domain Name
OK, so now you’ve found the domain name you want, but
someone else owns it. Can you still get it?The answer is a
qualified YES. You can still possibly register that
coveted name even if someone has beaten you to the punch.
In the next article we will discuss how to go about
registering a domain name that is already taken. But for
now, lets look at some alternatives to that:
Hyphenated Names Sometimes it is a good strategy to
just take the same domain name and hyphenate it as in
turning bobsautoparts.com into bobs-auto-parts.com. Is it
always the best strategy? Yes and no. If you are dealing
with an already well known name, generally the answer
would be no, as most web surfers would usually just enter
the non-hyphenated version in, and end up at your
competitors’ website instead. Not a good strategy. Also,
the longer the name you have chosen, the more tedious and
error prone it becomes for the surfer to type in the name
correctly, again foiling the chances that they will end up
at your website. Definitely shorter is better. But if the
name you have chosen is already taken and there is no
chance of getting it from it’s owner, and the owner either
has no website or a poorly designed one with little
traffic, this can be a good strategy in purchasing a name.
Website Basics-Fine Tuning a Domain
Name - Longer or Shorter...
Longer or Shorter Domain names can
be up to 67 characters long. At 63
characters,
thelongestdomainnameintheworldandthensomeandthensomemoreandmore.com
claims to be the longest domain name
in the world, and it may very well
be. But who would want to type it
into a browser? Our website,
www.StartMyWebsiteToday.com
features a name that in a few words
encapsulates the purpose of the
site. It is helpful also with search
engines. In as few characters as
possible the name of the site, the
purpose of the site, and the
keywords of the site have all been
neatly put together in a domain
name. Shorter is better here. Nuff
said.
Brand Name or Generic The answer
here is it depends. If your business
is your brand, of course it is the
best possible strategy to try to
register that domain name. For
instance, Nike.com is a well known
brand name site, although there is
nothing in the domain name to
suggest that it is a site about
shoes. Still, Nike is such a well
known brand name to the public that
people automatically know what they
will be shopping for when they get
there. If your brand name is well
known, definitely try to obtain your
brand name as a domain name. But if
you are Nike or Coca Cola don’t
discount the idea of buying
shoes.com or soda.com if they are
available as well. People often
search the web using generic terms,
more so even than brand names.

Domain Registration: How To Choose A Domain That Sells, And Register It Faster Than Anyone
Imagine… you apply the 10 or even 20 domain tips (you'd got it somewhere) and come up with a great domain name for your website that you think is the best in the world that no one could ever think of.
And when you get on the domain registrar and try to register… you're stunned! Completely. Because someone else has already taken up that name before you. You're late!
So fast?
Yes, it is. According to statistics, there are more than 65 domain names being registered worldwide, every second. In other words, the domain name you want badly could easily fall into others' hands.
In domain registration, speed is as important as in F1 race.
So, instead of following through those long, complicated tips that you found it elsewhere and lose your upper hand to others, why not just follow the 4 shorter tips outlined below, that is able to achieve exactly the same result of getting good domain name that pulls traffic well and yet make it fast enough for you to grab it before someone else does?
Oh, there's a little bonus tip along the way to help you get your creative juices flowing. So, don't miss out on this. Read on...
1. Short
Most people (including myself) are forgetful and they hate to remember things. They simply cringe at the sight of long domain names and are impatient to type them into the browser (e.g. "isellthecoolestsneakers.com") even though they're descriptive.
Hence, getting a SHORT domain name that's less than 12 characters should not be overlooked.
It should be able to print on people's mind easily and hypnotize them to come to your website again and again and again... Look, your website traffic counter is spinning like crazy now!
"It's tough to get a short domain name!" That's what many people are complaining nowadays. Not true. If you think hard and stretch your creativity, you'll find one.
However, if you really need help in that, this little bonus tip should help you think of a good, short name.
Now, you can use "iOne" as a starter for your domain name. It's really a smart way since it sounds like "I want" ingeniously.
For example, "iOneMoney" or "iOneHealth". They are short and they tell straight to people that "If you want money, visit iOneMoney" or "If you want health, come to iOneHealth".
What do you think? Are you inspired by the above little tip and your creativity is flowing out now?
2. Logical – 2 Ways
Make sure your website has a domain name that ties in exactly with what you do.
For example, you sell groceries online, you should logically register groceries dot whatever extension you want it to be (preferably a dot com extension because dot com is the most popular extension since internet was born).
Another way is to register your domain name using your company name straight, like Yahoo and Google.
For instance, if your company is called "Example Pte Ltd", you can (and in fact, you should) register your domain name as "example.com".
3. Spell Check
Losing money and your carefully thought-out domain name can be very easy if you're careless. Let me explain...
Let's say you intend to register "example" dot com, but you type "exmple" instead (can you see? short of ‘a'). Without checking for spelling error, you go straight to check out the domain name.
Oh gosh... but you're still able to salvage the situation as generally there is a 5-day refund period for domain registration given by domain registrar.
If you only realize the spelling error beyond that period, too bad, you'll lose that money unwillingly and that misspelled domain name will be attached to you until it expires (the minimum lifespan of a domain name is one year).
There is no way you can edit the domain name, even if you go into the control panel. The name is fixed once registered.
The worst thing is when you try to register the correct domain name again, it could have already been "stolen".
As mentioned earlier on, more than 65 domain names are being registered worldwide every second. Hence, having your domain name "hi-jacked" by others can easily happen in even just a few minutes delay.
Scary? Yes, right? Then YOU MUST DO spell check! Check at least 3 times (before you proceed to checkout) to make sure you get it right the first time and that's it. Case closed.
4. Register NOW!
I repeat, every second there are more than 65 domain names being taken up by users from all over the world. If you wait for X'mas, you may have to say "bye bye" to the domain name you want so much since millions of web surfers could be after it.
As soon as you come up with a name that fits your website well, REGISTER IT. Don't wait. It's cheap (less than 10 bucks a year only) anyway.
